The day is structured but flexible to meet the individual needs of the children. Indoor and outdoor experiences are planned offering a wide variety of opportunities. The routine encourages children to socialise with others and experience small groups as well as investigating resources and activities alone or with a supportive member of staff.
Staff plan for their key children and work with them through focussed activities throughout the day. Observations and assessments are made and these inform future planning alongside the children's interests.
A Typical Day
9:05am: Welcome children and begin with morning activities, children are given time to explore and make choices.
10:30am: We all come together for a mid-morning snack of fresh fruit, vegetables and milk. At this time we share news and a story.
11:00am: Children continue with activities from the morning session to extend their learning.
11.30am: Tidy up time (children participate). Outdoor play.
12:00pm: Lunchtime - the children sit in small groups with a member of staff to eat their packed lunches. This is a social time for children to discuss their likes and dislikes and talk about their day.
1:00pm: New activities
2.00pm: Learning library - children chose their books/games to take home that night.
2.30pm: Snack time - refreshments are offered. Children then participate in story time and songs.
3.00pm: Children sing 'goodbye' and they are collected. Information is given to parents about their child's day. Paintings are collected and book bags taken home.
We recieve our fruit, vegetables and milk from Abel and Cole an organic, locally sourced delivery service. The children love getting the box everyweek to find out what it contains. Find out more about Abel and Cole at: www.abelandcole.co.uk
Fridays are often cooking days - We have made pizzas, scones, flapjacks, soups and crumbles, all of which have been enjoyed by the children and parents alike. We also enjoy trying international cuisine, like our home cooked Chinese New Year meal.
